Photography Series #1 "Getting Closer" with Gwen
What is the Photography Series? Did you know Gwen is an award-winning photographer? This series will focus on developing not only your photography skills, but also your creative eye. Gwen hopes your development in these two areas will allow you to see in your photos that which is in your heart. The goal will be to go beyond merely documenting your life, but interpreting it with an eye that is attuned to light, expression, form, and line. Photography is a wonderful combination of both art and skill (much like scrapbooking!), so at times the class will focus on artistic subjects (i.e., composition and light); at other times the focus will be more skill-based (i.e., shutter speeds and apertures). In each class, you’ll learn several skills and complete one layout that showcases those skills. The type of camera you have is not relevant - "point and shoot" and SLR owners alike can benefit from this series. And, as a former high school teacher, Gwen can’t pass up the opportunity to give out worthwhile and related homework for that month’s lesson in order to further advance your skills! However, she's softened up with time, so no detentions will be given if you opt out! We'll share our homework results at the following month's lesson. The first class in this series will focus on getting emotionally and physically closer to your subject. $20.00
Photography Series #2 "Let There Be Light" with Gwen
The second class in Gwen's photography series will focus on learning to see the different kinds of light and letting it inspire your photography. Whether it is frontlight, sidelight, backlight, dappled, or diffused, no other element of photography affects the mood of your image more. We will learn where and when to find great light - bad light, too! - and discuss how your camera’s aperture, shutter speed, and ISO settings affect your ability to capture the light and image you want. Class and One layout. $20.00
Photography Series #3 - Photographing Children with Gwen
Who doesn't wish we could hold time still and forever enjoy the details of our child - a chubby baby's hand or our daughter's animated expressions when telling a good story? Through skilled photography we can do just that! In our third class, we will focus on capturing a child's true character. You'll learn how to obtain shots that show a child's personality and individuality, avoiding the dreaded "cheesy grins." Instruction and one layout. $20.00
Pets Layouts with Debbie
Debbie has created two more layouts that feature our favorite furry friends! $20.00
Photography Series #4 - Creative Composition with Gwen
Great composition draws the observer into an image, turning a casual glance into a lingering gaze. The focus of our fourth class will be to learn basic composition guidelines, including the rule of thirds, diagonals, and frame within a frame to help you understand exactly why you like a photo and how to achieve similar results in your own pictures. And we'll have fun learning some creative approaches to composition, too! Instruction and one layout. $20.00
Thinking Outside the Book series with Vanessa
Vanessa will show you how to take all your fun and fabulous scrapbooking skills and apply them to other projects ... in other words ... how to think outside the book! She's planned tons of projects for this year: a lantern, plant stakes, a Mother's Day vase, and more! You won't want to miss a single class! Check store for pricing.
Photography Series #5 - Exposure, Aperture and Shutter Speed
Do such terms as f/stops, aperture, ISO settings, focal length, depth of field, and shutter speed sound confusing? They sure can be! Yet taking the time to learn exactly what these technical terms mean can completely change your photography! We'll learn not just the definitions of these terms, but most importantly, how each one affects our captured image. This understanding will allow us to successfully photograph those tough-to-capture moments such as sports events, squirmy children, low-light instances (for example, stage performances, Christmas tree lights, birthday candles), and so many more! Come with your camera and questions! After the Power Point lesson, you'll complete one layout to showcase your wonderfully exposed images. $20.00
Tips & Techniques
Do you want to take your scrapbooking ot the next level? Ever thumb through a magazine and wonder "how did they do that?" Then this is the class for you. In each class, you'll learn some new, more advanced scrapping skills and techniques - while completing two layouts, or a series of cards! $20.00
Photography Series #6 "Landscape & Nature" with Gwen
Come learn how to capture all the natural beauty around us! We'll examine how to shoot the rich palette of autumn, interpret the beauty of flowing water, and see the potential photographs in sunsets and lakes. We'll learn how to creatively photograph flowers, gardens, trees, and the seasons. Useful equipment for this area of photography such as tripods and various lenses will be discussed. Proper exposure and successful composition unique to landscape and nature subjects will also be addressed. If it's outside we'll learn about it in this class! After the Power Point lesson, you'll complete one layout to showcase your lovely nature shots. $20.00
